When is the World Darts Championship 2026-2027?
The PDC World Darts Championship 2026/2027 takes place from 10 December 2026 to 3 January 2027 at Alexandra Palace in London. This is the biggest darts event of the year, with 96 players and a total prize fund of more than £2.5 million.
The WDF (World Darts Federation) World Championship is a separate tournament for amateur players and is held annually at Lakeside Country Club in England.
What is the difference between PDC and WDF tournaments?
The PDC (Professional Darts Corporation) runs the professional darts circuit featuring players such as Michael van Gerwen, Luke Littler and Gerwyn Price. The WDF (World Darts Federation) organises the amateur competitions and the Lakeside tournaments.
If you want to watch the best darts players in the world, follow the PDC. If you want to compete in officially organised darts yourself, the WDF is the route.
What is the PDC Q-School and when does it take place?
The PDC Q-School is the official qualifying event for the PDC ProTour. Players without a tour card can win one of the available tour cards here. The Q-School is the only regular route into the professional PDC circuit.
The Q-School 2026 took place from 5 to 11 January 2026 at two venues simultaneously: Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes (England) for the UK Q-School and Wunderland Kalkar in Germany for the European Q-School. The event is split into two stages. The First Stage ran from 5 to 7 January and was open to all players. The Final Stage took place from 8 to 11 January, for automatic qualifiers and survivors from the First Stage. Winning the Final Stage earns a two-year tour card directly.
Players who do not win the Final Stage but accumulate enough points can still earn a tour card via the Q-School Order of Merit. The total number of available tour cards varies each year. The next Q-School is planned for January 2027.
