Target positions itself as one of the most technical darts brands on the market. Its barrels are machined from tungsten in various densities, ranging from 80% and 90% up to 97.5% tungsten in the top tier. The higher the tungsten percentage, the slimmer the barrel at the same weight, which makes tighter grouping on the board easier. Many Target darts also feature a PVD or Titanium Nitride coating that improves grip and durability while giving the barrel its distinctive look.
One of Target's best-known innovations is the Swiss Point system. This patented system lets you swap the point of your dart in seconds using a compact Swiss Point tool, without replacing the entire barrel. A taper-and-thread mechanism keeps the point from working loose during play, and a special groove even lets you remove a broken point. That way you can adjust point length (26 mm or 30 mm, for example), style and colour to suit your preference and board condition.
The Pixel Grip is Target's most recognisable grip technology. It combines axial and radial precision-milled grooves into a bi-directional grip, something no dart had before. Alongside Pixel Grip, Target offers barrels with radial grooves, precision-milled grips and combination grips, from fine and subtle to aggressive. Which grip throws best is personal: a more aggressive grip gives more purchase but a less smooth release, while a finer grip does the opposite.
Target makes both steel tip and soft tip darts. Choose steel tip if you play on a sisal (bristle) board, the classic tournament board, and soft tip if you throw on an electronic board. Many Target models are available in both variants. Thanks to Swiss Point and separate conversion points, part of the range can also be converted from soft to steel, so you can play the same barrel on both board types.
Target darts come in a wide range of weights, typically from around 21 to 26 grams for steel tip. Heavier darts fly more stably and are more forgiving of a less explosive throw; lighter darts demand more control but give a flatter trajectory. Not sure? Around 23 to 24 grams is a safe starting point for most players. From there, combine barrel, shafts and flights into a setup that matches your throw.
A large part of the range consists of player darts: signature sets developed together with the pros, tuned to their own throw and preferences. Target also offers regular models for players who aren't after a signature set. Many of these sets ship with Target's own shafts and flights, including integrated flight-and-shaft systems.
Target is one of the newest dart brands but has already attracted some world-class players since its inception. Currently, among others, Luke Littler, Phil Taylor, Rob Cross, Nathan Aspinall, Adrian Lewis, Stephen Bunting, and Haruki Muramatsu use Target darts. Dimitri van den Bergh also uses Target darts for his matches and Target has Van Barneveld darts available.
